He Xiaopeng said XPeng does not intend to become a company that merely sells low-margin hardware. Instead, the firm is positioning itself as a differentiated technology provider built on AI-driven platforms. The in-house Turing AI chip is central to this ambition, allowing XPeng to control performance, data processing, and future autonomous features at a deeper level than rivals using off-the-shelf solutions.
XPeng Physical AI extends to humanoid robots and robotaxis
The company confirmed that mass production of humanoid robots is scheduled for the second half of 2026, while public street trials of robotaxis will begin in the near term. These projects are being developed alongside XPeng’s vehicle platforms, allowing both robots and cars to share learning systems, perception technologies, and control software.
Vehicle upgrades reflect XPeng Physical AI roadmap
At the same Guangzhou event, XPeng introduced four upgraded vehicle models that showcase its AI-driven software stack. New features include:

XPeng’s transformation comes as China’s auto market continues to suffer from a prolonged price war that has eroded margins across the industry. Other manufacturers have also shifted toward artificial intelligence, investing heavily in models, computing power, and digital infrastructure to escape pure hardware competition.
XPeng reported a net loss of 380 million yuan in the third quarter, but management expects the business to reach break-even by the end of 2025 as its physical AI-driven products begin generating higher-value revenue streams.
