According to SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd on August 21, the all-new Volkswagen ID. ERA 5S plug-in hybrid electric sedan was officially launched at the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show (CDMS). The second model in the ID. ERA series is offered in five variants, with prices ranging from CNY 119,900 to CNY 149,900. Limited-time promotional prices range from CNY 89,900 to CNY 119,900. The model also becomes the first Volkswagen-branded sedan to feature Urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) capability.

The ID. ERA 5S measures 4,836 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a 2,766 mm wheelbase. It uses a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout and combines a 1.5L engine, a permanent magnet synchronous motor, and a highly integrated 18-in-1 hybrid transmission. Selected variants receive the Xingyun Intelligent Driving Assistance System, which features CARIZON's Hyper Sense 8 end-to-end large model and Horizon Robotics' Journey 6M chip.
