Topy Industries Expands Aluminum Wheel Production in Indonesia

Topy Industries will expand its high-value-added aluminum wheel production by manufacturing its own products at a new plant being developed by overseas partner PT. Pakoakuina in Indonesia. The facility is planned to begin operations by the end of this year and will manufacture wheels for Topy Industries on a consignment basis. While Topy Industries will continue full-scale production at its facilities in Japan, the additional capacity is intended to strengthen its production organization and help the company respond to further demand for large-diameter aluminum wheels.

New Plant to Support Large-Diameter Wheel Production

The new facility of PT. Pakoakuina, an automobile and motorcycle wheel manufacturer based in Indonesia, will manufacture Topy Industries products measuring 20 inches or more in diameter. Pakoakuina plans to allocate approximately 20 to 30 percent of the plant’s production capacity to Topy Industries’ wheel manufacturing. The arrangement will allow Topy Industries to distribute orders between its domestic operations and the Indonesian facility, creating greater flexibility in production planning while supporting its strategy for expanding sales of higher-value-added aluminum wheels.

Production Flexibility and Backup Capacity

As part of the consignment production arrangement, Topy Industries acquired a 10% stake in PT. Pakoakuina in May. The investment is intended to support closer cooperation while enabling Topy Industries to increase production flexibility by allocating orders to the Indonesian plant. The company also intends to use the facility as a backup production site if manufacturing in Japan is interrupted for any reason. This additional production base is therefore expected to improve supply continuity while giving Topy Industries greater capacity to capture demand for large-diameter aluminum wheels.
