Quick Takeaways
  • India’s largest two-wheeler OEM and a global Tier-1 supplier have joined forces to bring car-grade ADAS safety into motorcycles and scooters.
  • The CES-shown digital co-pilot signals that affordable, mass-market two-wheeler ARAS is moving from concept to near-production reality.
Valeo Hero MotoCorp ARAS took a major step forward as Valeo Group and Hero MotoCorp entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop advanced rider assistance systems for internal combustion and electric two-wheelers. The collaboration covers both entry-level and premium motorcycles and scooters, including Hero’s electric mobility brand VIDA.
The two companies are combining Valeo’s expertise in automotive-grade sensing and software with Hero MotoCorp’s deep understanding of two-wheeler usage patterns. Their shared goal is to bring intelligent safety and assistance features that are practical, affordable, and scalable across a wide range of products.
Valeo Hero MotoCorp ARAS digital co-pilot platform
The Valeo Hero MotoCorp ARAS solution functions as a digital co-pilot for riders. Using Valeo’s radar units and smart camera systems, it builds a continuous 360-degree awareness field around the two-wheeler, helping the vehicle understand its surroundings in real time and react to dynamic road situations.
This system is designed specifically for complex riding environments such as dense urban traffic, mixed road usage, and close interaction with vulnerable road users. By combining sensing, perception, and intelligent software, it delivers timely alerts that support safer riding decisions without distracting the rider.
Key safety and assistance features in Valeo Hero MotoCorp ARAS
The jointly developed platform supports a wide range of rider assistance functions, including:
  • • Forward collision warning
  • • Distance and proximity alerts
  • • Lane change assist
  • • Blind spot detection
  • • Rear collision warning
  • • Pedestrian detection

These features are engineered to work across both conventional petrol-powered models and electric two-wheelers, ensuring a consistent safety experience across Hero MotoCorp’s portfolio.
From proof-of-concept to production-ready technology
The partnership has already moved beyond early development. Working prototypes of the Valeo Hero MotoCorp ARAS systems have been successfully demonstrated as proof-of-concept solutions, showcasing how advanced sensing and perception can be adapted to the two-wheeler form factor.
These demonstration systems were publicly presented at CES 2026, confirming the technical readiness of the platform and highlighting how automotive-grade safety technologies can be scaled for motorcycles and scooters.
As the collaboration progresses, Valeo and Hero MotoCorp aim to bring these technologies from prototypes into real-world vehicles, improving rider safety across both everyday commuters and premium electric models under the VIDA brand.
