- Avatr 07L launches with lower entry pricing.
- Advanced electric technology strengthens its market positioning.
Avatr Technology launched the five-seat Avatr 07L sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Saturday, as the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker backed by Changan Automobile, Huawei and CATL seeks to expand its sales scale. The model comes in three versions, starting at 229,900 yuan ($33,860), 249,900 yuan and 279,900 yuan, respectively, with limited-time benefit prices of 219,900 yuan, 239,900 yuan and 269,900 yuan. Compared with pre-sales that began on July 17, the company added an entry-level Elite all-electric version, reducing the starting price by 20,000 yuan.
The Max+ all-electric version and the Ultra tri-motor all-electric version are priced at 249,900 yuan and 279,900 yuan, respectively, unchanged from their pre-sales prices. The SUV measures 4,910 millimeters in length, 1,980 millimeters in width and 1,650 millimeters in height, with a 2,990-millimeter wheelbase. The Ultra version is 1,670 millimeters tall. Compared with the Avatr 07, the new model is 85 millimeters longer and has a wheelbase stretched by 50 millimeters, creating additional space for rear-seat passengers and luggage.
The vehicle provides a 100-liter frunk and a 735-liter rear trunk, with total rear cargo capacity expanding to 1,645 liters when the rear seats are folded. The Elite and Max+ versions use a single rear motor producing a maximum 305 kilowatts, equivalent to 409 horsepower, and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The Ultra version uses a distributed tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with combined maximum power of 712 kilowatts and peak torque of 996 Nm, reducing the 0-to-100-km/h acceleration time to 3.7 seconds.
All three versions use an 89.33 kWh CATL Shenxing Battery supporting 5C fast charging, with CLTC driving ranges of 725 kilometers and 650 kilometers, respectively. The vehicle is based on an 800-volt silicon carbide platform that supports charging from 0 to 80% state of charge in 20 minutes and from 30% to 80% in less than 10 minutes. The combination of a high-voltage architecture, fast charging capability and large battery capacity positions the vehicle for customers seeking both long driving range and reduced charging downtime.
Smart Driving And Cabin Technology
Smart features remain a major selling point, with every version equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system and the new-generation HarmonySpace cockpit. The Max+ and Ultra versions receive the higher-end ADS Max system with a roof-mounted 896-channel LiDAR sensor, while the Elite version uses the ADS Pro enhanced system with an in-cabin LiDAR. The company said the 896-channel LiDAR is the highest-specification LiDAR in mass production and can identify objects 14 centimeters tall from a distance of 120 meters, highlighting the model's emphasis on advanced sensing and driver assistance technology.
The vehicle is also among the first to support RCA roaming cruise assist, enabling drivers to activate NCA driver assistance without setting a navigation route in advance. Parking-spot-to-parking-spot navigation assist is available as an option on the Max+ and Ultra versions but is not offered on the Elite. Smart closed air springs and the magic carpet suspension are also standard only on the Max+ and Ultra versions, giving the higher-priced variants additional chassis technology beyond the entry-level configuration.
The cabin includes a 15.6-inch central control screen and a 35.4-inch 4K panoramic display, alongside a zero-gravity front passenger seat supporting dual 120-degree semi-reclining positions. The vehicle enters the fiercely competitive 250,000 yuan to 300,000 yuan all-electric SUV segment in China, where rivals include the Xiaomi YU7. Its positioning combines high-output electric powertrains, fast charging, advanced driver assistance, premium cabin features and multiple equipment levels to compete in a rapidly expanding market segment.
Avatr Sales And Expansion Plans
The launch is intended to support sales growth as the company seeks to increase its scale. Avatr sold 35,250 vehicles in the first seven months of this year, equivalent to approximately 5,040 vehicles per month, remaining well behind China's leading EV startups. The current Avatr 07 will continue to be sold following a lineup adjustment, while the company has said an extended-range version of the new model will follow later. The broader product expansion comes as the automaker works to strengthen its market position through additional variants and higher sales volumes.
The launch also comes as Avatr accelerates its push for a Hong Kong listing. The company refiled its Hong Kong initial public offering application at the end of June after its prospectus submitted in November 2025 lapsed in May when its six-month validity period expired. The latest vehicle launch therefore forms part of a broader period of expansion for the company, combining product development, sales growth efforts and capital-market plans while it competes in China's increasingly crowded electric vehicle market.
