The first phase of the brownfield expansion has increased Royal Enfield’s annual production capacity to approximately 1.5 million motorcycles. B Govindarajan, managing director of Eicher Motors and CEO of Royal Enfield, said the first module at Cheyyar became operational in July and helped improve production output. He stated that the company has reached more than 5000 motorcycle deliveries per day from its manufacturing plants following the capacity increase.

The remaining phases of the Cheyyar brownfield expansion are expected to be completed by FY28, increasing the facility’s contribution to Royal Enfield’s total annual manufacturing capability. According to Govindarajan, the complete brownfield expansion will take the company towards a 2 million motorcycle capacity by the financial year 2027-28. The company is implementing the expansion in phases to align investment timing with expected market growth. Andhra Pradesh Greenfield Plant To Add Future Manufacturing Capacity

Alongside the Tamil Nadu expansion, Royal Enfield is establishing its first greenfield manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. The board of Eicher Motors has approved an investment of Rs 1,225 crore for the first phase of the project. Once fully utilised, the facility will add annual production capacity of 4.5 lakh motorcycles. The first phase is expected to be completed during the 2029-30 financial year. The Andhra Pradesh plant will support Royal Enfield’s long-term production roadmap and contribute to achieving the targeted 2.45 million motorcycle annual capacity.

The company is sequencing manufacturing investments based on expected demand momentum and future capacity requirements. Govindarajan highlighted that Royal Enfield will move from approximately 1.5 million current capacity to 2 million capacity through brownfield expansion, followed by additional capability from the Andhra Pradesh greenfield facility. The combined manufacturing network will strengthen the company’s ability to support domestic and international motorcycle markets.
