Quick Takeaways
  • Aptiv secures its first ADAS program with an Indian commercial vehicle OEM, covering trucks and buses.
  • Gen 6 ADAS brings scalable hardware, AI perception, and OTA-ready software tailored for Indian traffic.
On January 6, 2026, Aptiv PLC announced that an Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer has chosen its Aptiv Gen 6 ADAS platform for deployment across trucks and buses in the domestic market. The program will be implemented across 14 vehicle models and more than 30 variants, marking Aptiv’s first ADAS collaboration with an Indian commercial vehicle OEM.
Aptiv Gen 6 ADAS platform designed for scalable CV deployment
The Aptiv Gen 6 ADAS platform is built on a uni-voltage electrical architecture, allowing it to scale efficiently across different commercial vehicle segments, powertrains, and duty cycles. This approach simplifies integration while ensuring consistent performance across a wide range of trucks and buses operating in diverse conditions.
Sensor fusion and AI-driven perception capabilities
The platform combines Aptiv’s latest-generation sensing hardware with advanced vision intelligence to enhance on-road awareness. Core system components include:
  • Gen 8 radar for robust object detection and range accuracy
  • Gen 7 smart camera for high-resolution visual data capture
  • AI-based vision algorithms enabling reliable perception in complex traffic environments
The vision system is optimized to recognize vulnerable road users and obstacles commonly encountered in Indian traffic scenarios, including three-wheelers, pedestrians, cyclists, road workers, and large animals.
Modular software and OTA readiness
At the software level, the Aptiv Gen 6 ADAS platform leverages Aptiv’s modular ADAS software stack, which has already been deployed on more than 40 million vehicles worldwide. This proven software foundation enables flexible feature deployment while maintaining functional safety and system reliability.
The platform also supports over-the-air software updates through Aptiv’s LINC Software Platform, running on the Wind River VxWorks real-time operating system. This enables continuous improvement, feature upgrades, and lifecycle optimization without requiring physical vehicle intervention.
Strengthening ADAS adoption in Indian commercial vehicles
With this selection, Aptiv strengthens its position in India’s growing commercial vehicle safety and automation landscape. The deployment reflects increasing OEM focus on advanced driver assistance technologies to improve road safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across trucks and buses operating in challenging real-world conditions.
