Quick Takeaways
- KGM launches its first production Dual Tech Hybrid system in the Torres and Actyon, strengthening its electrification roadmap.
- The Korea-first P1+P3 dual-motor layout delivers higher efficiency, smoother driving, and improved comfort in midsize SUVs.
On January 2, KGM Motors UK introduced its next-generation Dual Tech Hybrid powertrain, marking a major step forward in the brand’s electrification strategy. The advanced hybrid system makes its production debut in the new Torres Hybrid and Actyon Hybrid, combining improved efficiency, refined driving performance, and enhanced cabin comfort.
Developed in technical collaboration with BYD, the Dual Tech Hybrid powertrain integrates a newly engineered 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission, and dual electric motors. The engine is built around Miller-cycle combustion and features a variable geometry turbocharger, enabling stronger low-end response while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Higher fuel injection pressure and advanced cylinder coating technology further enhance combustion efficiency and durability. In this setup, the petrol engine alone delivers 149.6 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque, providing a strong foundation for both urban and highway driving conditions.

Comfort, refinement, and driving stability
Beyond powertrain innovation, both hybrid SUVs focus on ride comfort and noise reduction. Enhanced sound insulation minimizes engine noise intrusion into the cabin, even during acceleration or engine engagement. Smart damper technology further improves body control, ride stability, and overall driving confidence across varying road conditions.
Together, these refinements ensure that the Torres Hybrid and Actyon Hybrid offer a balanced combination of performance, efficiency, and everyday comfort, positioning KGM’s latest hybrids competitively in the evolving electrified SUV market.
