Energy In Motion Limited (EIM) has entered into a letter of agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Limited (CATL) on July 8 to establish a long-term supply partnership for advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells and battery pack kits in India. As part of the agreement, EIM will become the launch customer for CATL's latest generation battery systems in the Indian market, supporting the company's heavy commercial electric vehicle programs.
According to the agreement, CATL will supply 0.5 GWh of upgraded LFP battery cells based on the CB7T0 cell model together with the L324D06 battery pack platform. These next-generation battery solutions offer substantially higher cycle life and improved volumetric energy density compared with the earlier CB230 cells previously deployed by EIM. The enhanced battery technology is intended to improve durability and overall operating efficiency for demanding commercial transport applications.
The supplied battery packs will be configured into 400.6 kWh energy storage systems designed specifically for integration into EIM's E-Tractor 4x2 Ashwa series. EIM will incorporate these battery systems into its proprietary swappable battery boxes, enabling efficient deployment for heavy commercial vehicle operations while supporting its electrification strategy through advanced battery technology.
