Quick Takeaways
  • Proton closed 2025 with higher volumes, stronger market share, and clear leadership in Malaysia’s EV segment.
  • Exports hit multi-year highs, supported by regional re-entry and growing electrified product acceptance.
On January 2, 2026, Proton sales 2025 results highlighted a strong close to the year, with total group volumes reaching 157,976 units, including 14,655 units delivered in December. The performance represented a 3.3 percent year-on-year increase and translated into an estimated domestic market share of 19.4 percent, reinforcing Proton’s competitive position in Malaysia.
Proton sales 2025 driven by core models and EV momentum
Model-led demand remained central to Proton’s annual outcome. The Proton Saga delivered its strongest performance since 2011, achieving 74,013 units year-to-date, underlining sustained appeal in the entry-level segment. The Proton X50 followed with 28,057 units for the year, continuing to anchor volumes in the compact SUV category.
Electrification also emerged as a major contributor. The Proton e.MAS 7 ranked as Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle in 2025, holding the top position for five consecutive months from June through October. This leadership reflected growing consumer acceptance and a broader shift toward electrified mobility.
Nationwide charging expansion supports EV adoption
To accelerate electric vehicle uptake, Proton expanded its retail infrastructure alongside product launches. By the end of 2025, 44 e.MAS dealerships across the country were equipped with DC fast chargers, strengthening customer confidence and addressing charging accessibility concerns. This approach aligned sales growth with ecosystem readiness rather than relying on product momentum alone.
Export volumes reach multi-year highs
Overseas performance added further momentum to Proton sales 2025. Total exports reached 6,000 units year-to-date, marking a 13-year high and a 26 percent increase over 2024. The Saga, X50, and e.MAS 7 formed the backbone of international shipments, demonstrating balanced demand across powertrain types and segments.
Key export highlights included:
  • Proton X50 exports at a record 1,747 units
  • Global Proton Saga exports rising to 3,109 units, the highest level since 2012
  • December shipments peaking at 986 units, the strongest export month of the year

Regional market re-entry and expansion
Proton also strengthened its regional footprint during the year. In September 2025, the brand returned to Singapore after an 11-year absence with the introduction of the e.MAS 7, exporting 224 units by year-end. Egypt remained Proton’s largest export destination with 2,280 units, while shipments to Vietnam for the Geely brand reached a record 1,316 units, reflecting deeper integration within regional automotive networks.
Together, sustained domestic demand, EV leadership, infrastructure investment, and rising exports positioned Proton sales 2025 as a milestone year, setting a stronger foundation for growth across both conventional and electrified vehicle segments.
