Quick Takeaways
  • Huawei upgrades Luxeed R7 and S7 with LiDAR and advanced assisted driving technology
  • Luxeed V9 MPV reintroduced with extended range and premium ride features

In a strategic product refresh, Huawei-backed Luxeed has introduced updated versions of its R7 coupe SUV and S7 sedan, signaling faster iteration cycles in China’s competitive EV market. The announcement was made during a major spring launch event, where multiple new models across Huawei’s ecosystem were showcased. This Huawei-led initiative reflects a broader push to strengthen its intelligent mobility portfolio while enhancing technology integration across vehicle platforms.

Updated R7 and S7 Models with Advanced Features

The refreshed Luxeed R7 and S7 models arrive just months after their previous update, highlighting the brand’s rapid development approach. The S7 sedan is now priced at 239,800 yuan, while the R7 SUV starts at 259,800 yuan, both reflecting a modest price increase. Despite the higher cost, the models bring significant technological upgrades aimed at delivering enhanced value to consumers in the premium EV segment.

LiDAR and Assisted Driving Enhancements

Both models now feature Huawei’s latest 896-channel image-grade LiDAR system as standard across all variants. This upgrade improves environmental perception accuracy and supports more advanced driving assistance capabilities. Additionally, the vehicles are equipped with the Qiankun ADS 4 system, designed to deliver a more refined autonomous driving experience through improved sensing, decision-making, and control functions.

Design Updates Targeting Younger Buyers

To broaden their appeal among younger customers, the updated vehicles introduce new exterior color options, including vibrant orange and purple shades. These additions complement the coupe-style design of the R7 and the sleek profile of the S7, aligning with evolving consumer preferences for personalization and visual differentiation. The design refresh is part of a broader strategy to position the brand as both technologically advanced and lifestyle-oriented.

Luxeed V9 MPV Reintroduction and Key Features

Alongside the updated models, Huawei also reintroduced the Luxeed V9, a flagship multi-purpose vehicle under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance framework. Initially unveiled earlier this year, the V9 represents the brand’s entry into the premium MPV segment with a strong focus on comfort, technology, and long-distance capability. Display units are expected to reach showrooms nationwide by late April.

Extended Range and Comfort Technologies

The V9 is powered by Huawei’s Xuexiao smart extended-range system, enabling a combined driving range exceeding 1,250 kilometers. It also incorporates advanced chassis technologies such as active rear-wheel steering and dual-chamber air suspension. These features significantly improve maneuverability and ride comfort, especially for a full-size MPV designed for both urban and long-distance travel scenarios.

Market Strategy and Expansion Plans

Luxeed, developed jointly with Chery Automobile, is accelerating product development cycles to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving Chinese EV landscape. The brand aims to solidify its domestic presence by 2026 while targeting annual sales of one million units by 2030. In parallel, international expansion is planned, with a right-hand drive version of the V9 expected in the second half of 2026 to support entry into global markets.

This accelerated rollout of upgraded models and expansion-ready platforms reflects a long-term strategy focused on technology leadership, diversified product offerings, and scalable global growth.
