Quick Takeaways
  • Autonomous electric buses combine mapless AI driving with certified EV platforms to accelerate global public transit automation.
  • The Imagry–eVersum partnership targets scalable, regulation-ready deployments starting with Japan in 2026.
On December 23, Imagry announced a strategic partnership with eVersum to deploy autonomous electric buses that combine advanced artificial intelligence with next-generation electric bus platforms. The collaboration focuses on integrating Imagry’s production-ready autonomous driving stack into M3-category electric buses designed for both right-hand drive and left-hand drive markets.
Autonomous Electric Buses Designed for Global Transit
The partnership brings autonomous electric buses to public transport operators through a fully integrated solution available in 6.9-meter, 8.4-meter, and 9.9-meter configurations. These models are engineered to support both RHD and LHD requirements, enabling flexible deployment across diverse regional markets and operating environments.
All buses are pre-certified for WVTA and compliant with GSR2 requirements, ensuring they align with regulatory expectations for urban and intercity public transportation. This certification-readiness helps operators accelerate adoption while reducing homologation complexity.
AI-Based Driving Without HD Maps
At the core of the solution is Imagry’s AI-based autonomous driving technology, covering perception, motion planning, and vehicle control. Unlike traditional approaches, the system enables HD-mapless, location-independent autonomous operation, allowing vehicles to adapt to new routes and environments without extensive pre-mapping.
Key capabilities include:
  • Real-time perception for complex urban traffic conditions
  • Adaptive motion planning for smooth and predictable driving behavior
  • Vehicle control optimized for electric bus platforms
  • Rapid deployment without dependency on fixed infrastructure

Scalable Deployment for Public Transport Operators
The integrated autonomous electric buses are designed to scale efficiently for cities and towns worldwide. Their mapless architecture supports faster rollout across multiple operational zones, making them suitable for both pilot projects and large-scale fleet deployments.
The first electric bus platform from eVersum equipped with Imagry’s autonomous technology is scheduled for deployment in Japan in early 2026, marking a significant milestone toward commercial driverless public transportation.
