Quick Takeaways
  • Vianode will supply synthetic anode graphite to Ateios Systems under a phased agreement
  • The material will support advanced electrode platforms across mobility and energy storage sectors

In a strategic move within the battery materials ecosystem, Vianode and Ateios Systems formalized a Letter of Intent on March 19 to collaborate on the supply of advanced anode materials. The agreement focuses on delivering high-performance synthetic graphite tailored for next-generation battery technologies. This development reflects increasing alignment between material innovators and component suppliers as demand grows across electric mobility and stationary energy storage applications worldwide.

Phased Supply Strategy for Advanced Battery Materials

Under the terms of the agreement, Vianode will deliver synthetic anode graphite in multiple phases to support Ateios Systems’ electrode manufacturing operations. The material is specifically designed to meet performance requirements of advanced battery architectures, ensuring improved conductivity, durability, and energy density. This phased approach allows both companies to scale operations in line with demand while maintaining consistent quality and supply chain reliability for various industrial applications.

Integration with High-Performance Electrode Platform

Ateios Systems will integrate the supplied graphite into its proprietary electrode platform, which incorporates high-performance cathodes that are free from PFA materials. This technology is engineered to enhance battery efficiency while addressing environmental and regulatory considerations. The combined use of advanced anode and cathode materials is expected to support applications across automotive electrification, grid-scale energy storage, and other high-demand sectors requiring reliable and efficient battery systems.

Application Scope Across Multiple Industries

The collaboration is not limited to a single segment but spans multiple industries where battery performance is critical. These include electric vehicles, renewable energy storage systems, and industrial applications requiring long lifecycle batteries. By aligning material supply with evolving electrode technologies, both companies aim to strengthen their position in a competitive market driven by rapid electrification and sustainability targets.

Production Expansion and Facility Transition Plan

Initial deliveries will be sourced from Vianode’s Via ONE production facility located in Norway. As demand scales, supply will transition to the larger Via TWO plant in Canada, which is designed to offer higher production capacity and operational efficiency. This transition strategy ensures continuity of supply while supporting long-term growth ambitions and global market expansion for advanced battery materials.

The agreement highlights a broader industry trend where collaboration across the battery value chain is becoming essential to meet performance, scalability, and sustainability requirements in next-generation energy solutions.
