Xiaomi has officially introduced its upgraded electric sedan lineup with significant advancements in driving range, charging speed, and intelligent systems. The Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan now delivers up to 902 km of range under the CLTC cycle, alongside major hardware enhancements such as standard LiDAR integration and a near-900V electrical architecture. With strong early demand and competitive pricing, the new model is positioned to further strengthen Xiaomi’s presence in China’s premium electric vehicle segment.

Platform Upgrade Enables Faster Charging and Extended Range

The most notable improvement lies in the vehicle’s electrical architecture. Entry-level variants transition from a traditional 400V system to a 752V setup using silicon carbide inverters, while the top variant advances to an 897V platform, approaching true 900V performance. This upgrade significantly enhances charging efficiency and reduces downtime, enabling rapid energy replenishment that aligns with next-generation EV expectations.

The top variant demonstrates a major leap in charging capability, adding approximately 670 km of driving range in just 15 minutes. Additionally, fast charging from 10% to 80% can be completed in nearly 11 minutes, supported by 5C charging technology. These improvements directly translate into improved usability for long-distance travel and daily convenience.

Range Improvements Across All Variants

The enhanced platform also contributes to improved driving range across the lineup, making the vehicle highly competitive in its segment. Each variant benefits from battery and efficiency optimizations that extend usable distance per charge.

The Pro variant’s 902 km range stands out as a segment-leading figure, offering a significant advantage in long-range usability compared to many competing electric sedans.

Performance and Chassis Enhancements Improve Driving Dynamics

All variants now incorporate upgraded electric motors, improving both output and efficiency. The single-motor versions increase power to 320 hp, while the dual-motor configuration reaches 690 hp, delivering stronger acceleration and improved responsiveness.

Chassis refinements further enhance ride quality and handling. Advanced suspension systems, including dual-chamber air suspension with continuous damping control, are now available beyond the top variant. Wider tires and upgraded braking systems, including high-performance calipers, improve grip and braking stability. Aerodynamic optimization has also reduced drag to 0.21, contributing to both efficiency and performance.

Advanced Driver Assistance Hardware Standardized

A key strategic shift is the inclusion of advanced sensing and computing hardware across all trims. LiDAR, previously limited to premium variants, is now standard along with 4D millimeter-wave radar and a high-performance computing platform delivering 700 TOPS of processing capability.

This unified hardware supports Xiaomi’s highway autonomous driving system, enabling enhanced driver assistance features without requiring additional upgrades. The move positions the vehicle competitively by offering advanced technology at a more accessible price point.

Enhanced Safety Architecture and Structural Reinforcement

Safety improvements have been implemented across multiple areas, including structural strength and occupant protection. The body structure now incorporates ultra-high-strength steel rated at 2,200 MPa in critical sections, increasing crash resistance. The battery system is reinforced with a high-strength crossbeam and protective coatings to improve durability under impact or road debris exposure.

Additional safety features include an expanded airbag system with nine airbags and redesigned door mechanisms with redundant unlocking systems that function even in power loss scenarios. These upgrades address previous concerns and improve overall safety reliability.

Interior Refinements and Competitive Pricing Strategy

Design updates remain subtle, focusing on refinement rather than overhaul. Exterior changes include new color options and updated wheel designs, while the interior features new themes, improved materials, and enhanced ambient lighting. The cabin layout has been refined for improved ergonomics and user experience.

The pricing structure reflects incremental increases while maintaining competitiveness within the segment.

Despite the price adjustment, the model remains competitively positioned, offering higher range and advanced features compared to similarly priced alternatives.
