Announced on March 17, 2026, Kim Long Motor unveiled a new range of vehicles tailored for freight movement, combining electric propulsion and conventional diesel platforms. The lineup includes an all-electric van, a light-duty truck, and a diesel-powered cargo van, each designed to address different operational needs within Vietnam’s growing transport sector while supporting domestic manufacturing ambitions.
GK48-EV Electric Van for Urban Logistics
The GK48-EV represents the company’s push into electrified last-mile delivery solutions, offering a compact yet capable platform for city logistics. Measuring 4,860 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width, and 1,990 mm in height, the van provides a cargo volume of 6.2 cubic meters. It is powered by a 41.86 kWh battery sourced from BYD, enabling a driving range of up to 305 kilometers, making it suitable for daily urban operations with minimal charging interruptions.
Localization and Assembly Strategy
Production of the GK48-EV is carried out domestically, with key structural elements such as the body and chassis manufactured locally. However, the battery pack is imported, reflecting a hybrid sourcing approach that balances cost efficiency and technological access. Priced at approximately VND 480 million, the vehicle is positioned as an accessible entry point into electric commercial mobility for logistics operators transitioning from conventional fleets.
KIMAN9 Light Truck with Flexible Configurations
The KIMAN9 light truck is designed to serve a broader range of cargo transport requirements through multiple payload options. Available in 1.99-ton and 2.49-ton variants, the truck is equipped with a 2,350 cc YUCHAI YCY24110–58 engine delivering 110 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. Compliance with Euro 5 emission standards is achieved through DOC-DPF after-treatment technology, ensuring reduced environmental impact while maintaining operational reliability.
High Localization and Cost Positioning
With more than 80 percent of its components sourced locally, including a domestically produced engine, the KIMAN9 reflects a strong emphasis on local manufacturing capability. The model supports multiple body configurations, allowing customization for different logistics applications such as cargo transport, refrigerated goods, or specialized services. Pricing ranges from VND 349 million to VND 405 million depending on payload capacity, offering competitive positioning within the segment.
KIMLONG X9 Diesel Van for High-Volume Cargo
The KIMLONG X9 van targets operators requiring higher cargo capacity within urban environments. Configured as a three-seater, it offers a spacious 11.5 cubic meters cargo area supported by a monocoque chassis design, which enhances structural rigidity and load efficiency. The vehicle is powered by a 2,982 cc diesel engine producing 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual transmission to balance performance and fuel economy.
Performance and Safety Integration
In addition to its powertrain capabilities, the X9 incorporates safety features such as an anti-lock braking system to improve control under varying load conditions. Fully assembled within Vietnam, the model reinforces the company’s localization strategy while addressing the needs of high-volume cargo transport in dense urban settings. With a price point of VND 580 million, it is positioned as a premium offering within the light commercial vehicle segment.
