- Kim Long Motor launches a fully automated truck manufacturing facility in Vietnam with integrated production capabilities.
- The plant supports 20,000 annual capacity and introduces new vehicle models for domestic and export markets.
Kim Long Motor has formally launched its Kim Long Motor truck manufacturing plant in Vietnam, marking a significant expansion of domestic commercial vehicle production. Announced on March 17, 2026, the facility is located within the Hue Automobile Manufacturing and Assembly Industrial Park and reflects a strategic move toward localized, high-efficiency manufacturing. The new site combines automation, integrated supply systems, and international compliance standards to strengthen Vietnam’s position in regional automotive manufacturing.
Advanced Manufacturing Setup and Automation
The newly inaugurated facility spans approximately 10 hectares and incorporates a highly automated production environment. Key technologies include robotic welding systems, a modern electrostatic dip-coating (ED) line featuring 13 interconnected tanks, and a flexible assembly line designed to handle multiple truck variants simultaneously. This flexible architecture enables streamlined production while allowing rapid adjustments to model variations, improving operational efficiency and responsiveness to market demand.
Integrated Production Ecosystem
The plant operates as part of a broader industrial ecosystem that integrates several upstream and downstream manufacturing units. These include stamping and machining operations, a YUCHAI engine plant, an electric vehicle battery production unit, and a commercial vehicle painting facility. This interconnected structure allows Vietnam based manufacturing to achieve higher localization levels, reduce dependency on external suppliers, and improve cost control while maintaining consistent quality standards across production stages.
Compliance with Global Standards
The manufacturing operations adhere to internationally recognized certifications, including ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, and IATF 16949 for automotive quality systems. These standards ensure that production processes align with global benchmarks, enabling the company to meet both domestic requirements and export expectations. Compliance also reinforces reliability, sustainability, and traceability across the manufacturing lifecycle.
Production Capacity and Market Positioning
The facility is designed to deliver an annual output of approximately 20,000 vehicles, positioning the company as a rising player in the regional commercial vehicle segment. This capacity supports both domestic demand and export opportunities, strengthening the company’s competitive presence in Southeast Asia. The scale of operations, combined with integrated manufacturing capabilities, enables efficient volume production without compromising on customization or product diversity.
Launch of New Commercial Vehicle Models
The inauguration event also featured the introduction of multiple new models, including the GK48-EV, KIMAN9, and KIMLONG X9. These vehicles are assembled locally and represent the company’s expanding product portfolio across conventional and electric segments. The inclusion of electric vehicle models highlights a forward-looking strategy aligned with evolving mobility trends and regulatory shifts toward cleaner transportation solutions.
The establishment of this manufacturing hub reflects a broader transition toward technologically advanced and locally integrated automotive production, reinforcing the country’s role in the global commercial vehicle value chain while supporting sustainable industrial growth.
