- Zeekr expands premium lineup with high-performance hybrid SUV featuring tri-motor system
- Advanced 900V architecture and AI-driven ADAS enhance range and driving capability
Strengthening its position in the premium electrified vehicle segment, Geely has opened pre-sales for its latest hybrid SUV, the Zeekr 8X. Positioned as a high-performance model, the vehicle builds on the company’s growing portfolio of premium offerings and reflects its strategy to compete more aggressively in China’s evolving EV and hybrid market. The Geely Zeekr 8X hybrid SUV is introduced with multiple variants and advanced technologies aimed at enhancing both performance and efficiency.
Product Positioning and Variant Strategy
The Zeekr 8X is offered in four distinct trims—Max, Ultra, Ultra+, and a special Yaoying edition—allowing the brand to address a broader range of premium customers. Pricing spans from 376,800 yuan to 516,800 yuan, placing it firmly within the high-end SUV segment. This strategic positioning follows the earlier introduction of the Zeekr 9X, reinforcing the brand’s intent to build a strong presence in premium hybrid mobility. The structured variant lineup ensures flexibility in performance, features, and technology offerings across customer segments.
Advanced Hybrid Architecture and Powertrain
Built on the SEA-S super electric hybrid platform, the vehicle incorporates a 900-volt high-voltage architecture, enabling improved efficiency and faster energy delivery. The powertrain combines a 2.0T engine producing up to 205 kW with either dual-motor or tri-motor configurations. The top-tier tri-motor setup delivers a combined output of 1,030 kW, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds. This configuration highlights the integration of combustion and electric systems to achieve both performance and efficiency in modern hybrid platforms.
Range and Energy Efficiency
The model is equipped with a 70-kWh battery pack that provides a pure electric driving range of up to 410 kilometers under CLTC standards. When combined with a full fuel tank, the total driving range extends to approximately 1,416 kilometers. This extended range capability supports long-distance travel while maintaining the flexibility of hybrid operation, making it suitable for varied driving conditions across urban and highway environments.
Intelligent Driving and Computing Capability
The Zeekr 8X introduces the new-generation G-ASD advanced driver assistance system, co-developed with Afari Technology. The system integrates dual Nvidia Thor chips, delivering computing power of up to 1,400 TOPS. This enables enhanced perception, decision-making, and automated driving capabilities. The inclusion of such high computing performance positions the vehicle within the growing trend of software-driven mobility solutions and intelligent vehicle ecosystems.
Market Performance and Future Launch Plans
The launch of the Zeekr 8X follows the strong market reception of the Zeekr 9X, which achieved over 10,000 deliveries in a single month and contributed to record monthly sales exceeding 30,000 units. The new model is expected to enter retail channels and begin deliveries in the second quarter. Alongside this, China-focused operations will also see updates to the Zeekr 009 MPV, including upgrades to a 900-volt architecture and advanced driver assistance hardware, further expanding the brand’s premium portfolio.
With the introduction of the Zeekr 8X, Geely continues to strengthen its hybrid and electric vehicle strategy, combining high-performance engineering with advanced digital technologies to compete in the premium mobility segment.
