- Zelio introduces a new variant of its urban electric scooter with improved comfort and 120 km range.
- The low-speed model targets city commuters with practical features and flexible battery options.
The Zelio E-Mobility Zelio X-Men+ 2026 electric scooter has been introduced in the Indian market with a starting price of ₹60,000. As part of the launch offer, the manufacturer is providing a complimentary safety helmet to the first 5,000 buyers. The scooter arrives with four fresh colour options including Dark Knight Black, White, Midnight Blue, and Nardo Gray. Designed primarily for short-distance travel, the model targets urban commuters such as students, office workers, and daily riders navigating congested city streets across India.
Urban Electric Scooter Designed for Daily Commuting
The newly introduced scooter is positioned in the low-speed electric mobility segment, a category that continues to gain popularity in urban areas. Increasing fuel prices, rising traffic congestion, and the need for economical commuting options have encouraged many consumers to adopt electric two-wheelers for daily travel. With a price point aimed at cost-conscious buyers, the scooter provides an accessible alternative for riders who require efficient short-distance transportation without the complexities associated with high-speed vehicles.
The vehicle offers a claimed range of 120 km on a single charge and reaches a maximum speed of 25 kmph. This performance places it within the low-speed electric vehicle classification in India, meaning riders are not required to possess a driving licence under current regulations. This feature significantly expands the potential user base, especially among younger riders and individuals seeking simple, licence-free commuting solutions.
Improved Ride Comfort and Updated Hardware
One of the key mechanical improvements in the latest version is the upgrade of the rear wheel size from 10 inches to 12 inches. According to the manufacturer, the larger wheel contributes to enhanced stability and ride comfort during everyday city use. The scooter is also equipped with hydraulic shock absorbers at both the front and rear, helping absorb road irregularities commonly encountered in urban environments.
The vehicle uses 90-100-10 tyres at both ends and supports a gross vehicle weight of 80 kg, with a total load capacity of 180 kg. This allows the scooter to accommodate both the rider and additional cargo such as bags or daily essentials. The braking setup combines a front disc brake with a rear drum brake, while alloy rims at the front and hub motor rims at the rear are designed to improve durability and consistent handling during routine operation.
Motor Performance and Battery Flexibility
The scooter is powered by a 60/72V BLDC motor that consumes approximately 1.5 units of electricity per full charge, helping keep running expenses low. Buyers are offered the flexibility to choose between lithium-ion and lead-acid battery packs depending on budget considerations and charging preferences. Lithium-ion batteries require around four to five hours to reach full charge, while lead-acid versions typically need between eight and ten hours.
Convenience Features for Everyday Riders
Beyond performance specifications, the scooter integrates several practical features aimed at improving the daily riding experience. These include reverse gear functionality, a digital instrument display, a parking switch, an anti-theft alarm system, USB charging capability, central locking, and an automatic repair switch. These features are designed to provide additional convenience and security for riders who rely on electric scooters for everyday commuting.
The model is supported by a two-year warranty for the vehicle and a one-year warranty covering the battery pack. According to Managing Director Kunal Arya, the updated model has been developed to address the essential needs of urban commuters seeking reliable and comfortable electric mobility solutions. He noted that the improved suspension, larger wheel size, and practical rider-focused features make the scooter a dependable option for navigating busy city environments.
Growing Presence in the Indian Electric Two-Wheeler Market
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Haryana, Zelio E-Mobility has expanded its presence in the electric mobility sector over the past few years. The company has developed an annual production capacity of approximately 72,000 units and built a customer base exceeding 200,000 riders. Its dealership network currently includes around 350 outlets spread across 20 states and union territories, reflecting rapid growth in both established and emerging electric vehicle markets.
The introduction of the updated scooter comes as India’s low-speed electric two-wheeler segment continues to expand. Rising fuel costs, supportive government initiatives promoting electric mobility, and increasing consumer awareness of sustainable transportation options are driving this growth. Manufacturers are responding by introducing improved models that offer longer range, better comfort, and modern styling while maintaining price accessibility for everyday urban commuters.
