The Tesla Semi Megacharger Los Angeles station has officially opened, marking the first publicly accessible Megacharger location dedicated to customers operating the company’s electric heavy-duty truck. Announced on March 7 through a social media update, the site offers ultra-fast charging capabilities of up to 750 kW. The infrastructure is designed to support demanding long-haul trucking operations, enabling rapid charging for the battery-electric Tesla Semi and helping commercial fleets maintain operational efficiency while transitioning toward zero-emission freight transport.
High-Power Charging Designed for Electric Trucking
The Megacharger technology has been engineered specifically for the Tesla Semi platform, delivering significantly higher power levels than typical passenger-vehicle charging stations. By enabling rapid energy replenishment, the system allows electric trucks to return to the road quickly during logistics operations. The Los Angeles facility represents the first publicly available location not situated at a Tesla property and currently appears as one of only three Megacharger sites shown on the company’s network map.
Production Expansion Plans for the Tesla Semi
Alongside the expansion of charging infrastructure, Tesla is preparing to increase manufacturing capacity for its electric truck. The company’s Gigafactory Nevada facility has already produced a limited number of units, primarily for early deployments and testing. Equipment upgrades are now underway to support higher production volumes, indicating a broader rollout of the heavy-duty electric vehicle as supporting infrastructure and fleet demand continue to develop.
