Quick Takeaways
  • Pony.ai robotaxi service is now accessible through Tencent Mobility Services inside WeChat.
  • The launch strengthens commercialization of Level 4 autonomous mobility in Guangzhou.

The Pony.ai robotaxi WeChat integration marks a new step in the commercialization of autonomous ride-hailing in China. Announced on March 13, the new service allows users to book driverless rides directly through the “Tencent Mobility Services” mini program within the WeChat ecosystem. The rollout begins in Guangzhou, where passengers can immediately request autonomous vehicles through the integrated platform, simplifying access to robotaxi services within a widely used digital mobility environment.

WeChat Integration Expands Autonomous Ride Access

With the new integration, users can simply search for “Tencent Mobility Services” inside WeChat or open the platform’s built-in mobility section to request a driverless ride. When the selected pickup or drop-off point falls within a designated robotaxi service zone, passengers can choose the autonomous driving option to request a vehicle. The development builds on the April 2025 strategic partnership between Pony.ai and Tencent aimed at accelerating the commercialization of Level 4 autonomous mobility solutions across China.

Operational Growth in Guangzhou

Guangzhou has been a major testing and deployment hub for the company since operations began in 2017. The autonomous mobility provider initially launched services in the Nansha district and later expanded to dedicated driverless routes connecting key transport nodes. These include Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Guangzhou South Railway Station, where robotaxi services began operating in early 2024, demonstrating the growing role of automated mobility in large urban transport networks.

Expanding Robotaxi Network and Global Partnerships

The company continues to expand its autonomous mobility ecosystem both domestically and internationally. In China, collaborations include Tencent Cloud, Alipay, Amap, ONTIME, and several regional taxi platforms that support large-scale deployment of autonomous fleets. Globally, the company partners with major mobility and automotive organizations such as Stellantis, Uber, Bolt, ComfortDelGro, and Emile Weber. Today the company operates more than 1,000 autonomous vehicles across major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
