Thailand’s electric vehicle market continues to attract new competition as Wuling expands its local portfolio. The Wuling Starlight Darion EV Thailand launch represents the brand’s entry into the growing seven-seat electric MPV segment, targeting families, corporate users, and mobility service operators. The introduction follows the earlier market arrival of the Air EV and Binguo EV models, which initially generated strong consumer interest due to aggressive pricing in Thailand’s increasingly competitive EV landscape.
Wuling Expands Product Strategy with New Electric MPV
The Wuling Starlight Darion EV Thailand rollout strengthens the company’s strategy to diversify its electric lineup beyond compact city cars. Positioned in the multi-purpose vehicle segment, the model is priced from THB 799,000 and features a 69.2 kWh battery pack capable of delivering up to 540 kilometers of driving range under the CLTC cycle. The vehicle also supports 2C fast-charging capability, allowing faster energy replenishment for users operating in urban and intercity environments.
Thailand Market Growth Supported by Joint Venture and Network Expansion
To strengthen its competitive position, Wuling partnered with SAIC-GM-Wuling to establish Wuling Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. through a dedicated joint venture structure. The company plans to introduce five electric vehicles in Thailand by 2026, including the Starlight Darion EV, Starlight Eksion EV, Porta EV, Yep Plus, and Mini EV Gen 5. In parallel, the distributor aims to expand its showroom footprint from 24 to 50 locations while establishing a parts distribution center in Samut Prakan to improve service efficiency and support a target of 8,000 vehicle sales.
