Quick Takeaways
  • Dongfeng Motor has begun Level 3 autonomous road testing of the Voyah Dream MPV at highway speeds.
  • The company plans a new MPV with full Level 3 architecture scheduled for launch in 2026.

The Dongfeng Motor Level 3 autonomous Voyah Dream MPV has entered road testing in China as the automaker advances its automated driving capabilities for premium multi-purpose vehicles. Announced on March 9, the program evaluates the vehicle at speeds reaching 100 km/h, which corresponds to the maximum legal limits across most domestic expressway segments. The initiative reflects Dongfeng Motor Corporation’s push to integrate higher-level driving automation into production vehicles while maintaining strict safety and regulatory compliance.

Level 3 Autonomous Testing Program for Voyah Dream

The Voyah Dream MPV has become one of the first MPV models in China to qualify for Level 3 autonomous driving road tests. During the program, the vehicle operates under supervised automated driving conditions at highway speeds up to 100 km/h. This testing phase allows engineers to validate the real-world performance of automated driving functions in complex traffic scenarios commonly encountered on expressways, helping refine system reliability and readiness for future commercial deployment.

Redundant Safety Architecture and Future Platform Plans

The intelligent driving architecture and chassis systems of the Voyah Dream incorporate redundancy mechanisms designed to achieve ASIL-D functional safety, the highest Automotive Safety Integrity Level defined in international automotive standards. This redundancy ensures critical vehicle systems remain operational even if certain components fail. Looking ahead, Dongfeng Motor Corporation is also preparing a new MPV platform codenamed Everest, scheduled for launch in the second half of 2026 and expected to become the world’s first MPV equipped with a fully integrated Level 3 autonomous architecture.
