  • Robust ES8 deliveries helped Nio achieve its first quarterly operating profit in late 2025.

The Nio ES8 SUV continues to play a central role in the company’s performance in China’s premium electric vehicle market. To sustain the strong demand momentum around its flagship model, the automaker has introduced a new exterior paint option inspired by astronomical imagery. The new Nebula Red color, derived from the Orion Nebula, is intended to refresh the visual appeal of the large electric SUV while maintaining buyer interest as deliveries and order volumes continue to grow across the country.

Nebula Red Color Introduced for the Nio ES8 SUV

The newly launched Nebula Red finish is available for the Nio ES8 SUV at an additional price of 10,000 yuan (approximately $1,450). Vehicles featuring the new paint option have already arrived at more than 200 Nio retail locations throughout China, allowing customers to view the model directly in showrooms. By adding a distinctive color variant, the company aims to keep its flagship electric SUV visually fresh in a highly competitive premium EV segment.

Strong Deliveries Drive Financial Turnaround

The third-generation Nio ES8 SUV has been a key factor behind the automaker’s improving financial performance. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the company reported an operating profit of 807.3 million yuan under GAAP standards, marking the first time it achieved quarterly profitability. Strong deliveries of the high-margin ES8 model contributed significantly to the turnaround as demand for the premium electric SUV remained resilient.

Orders and Wait Times Reflect Rising Demand

Despite seasonal disruptions caused by the Chinese New Year holiday, retail deliveries of the large electric SUV reached 11,260 units in February. Market monitoring also shows that order recovery accelerated after the holiday period ended. Customer wait times for the model shortened dramatically from roughly 13–14 weeks in February to about 3–5 weeks by early March, reflecting improved production flow and strong promotional activity aimed at supporting near-term sales.

Future Flagship Expansion Planned

Looking ahead, the automaker expects the cumulative deliveries of the third-generation flagship SUV to reach 80,000 units later this month. At the same time, the company is preparing the launch of a new premium flagship model, the ES9, which is scheduled for introduction in the second quarter of 2026. The upcoming vehicle is expected to strengthen the brand’s position in the premium electric vehicle segment while building on the commercial success of the Nio ES8 SUV.
