Shinwha Intertek has entered the automotive sector by supplying quantum dot display films designed for next-generation vehicle screens. The company is leveraging its experience in optical films used for consumer electronics displays to expand into automotive applications. The first shipments of Shinwha Intertek quantum dot sheets for automotive displays will reach major automakers through Harman, a U.S.-based automotive technology company that integrates advanced display solutions into vehicle infotainment systems.

Quantum Dot Technology Enhances Automotive Display Quality

The supplied quantum dot sheet technology improves display brightness and color performance when paired with local dimming systems. This approach allows brightness to be controlled across individual areas of the screen, significantly increasing contrast levels. As a result, the visual output can reach image quality comparable to OLED displays while maintaining the durability standards required for automotive environments, which often exceed those of consumer electronics.

Automotive Durability and Technology Integration

The display films are engineered to function reliably across extreme temperature conditions ranging from −40°C to 85°C, ensuring stable operation inside vehicle cabins exposed to varying climates. Alongside its display material business, Shinwha Intertek is expanding its automotive materials portfolio, including preparations for augmented reality head-up display optical modules following its strategic investment in U.S.-based Epitone Inc. and the introduction of secondary battery material supply in 2024, strengthening its presence across multiple automotive technology segments.
