New transmission options for Freightliner M2 106 Plus

The expanded lineup includes the Allison 3414 Regional Haul Series (RHS) transmission paired with the Cummins X10 diesel engine, scheduled to enter production in January 2027. The configuration is designed for medium-duty tractor applications and delivers improved performance capabilities. According to the company, the 3414 RHS system can achieve up to 25 percent faster acceleration compared with competing automated manual transmission systems used in similar commercial vehicle segments.

Allison 9-Speed transmission for fuel-efficient operations

A second powertrain configuration introduces the Allison 9-Speed fully automatic transmission paired with the Cummins B6.7 Octane engine. This combination is expected to begin production in July 2026 and focuses on balancing torque delivery with fuel-saving capability for commercial truck operations. The Freightliner M2 106 Plus trucks equipped with these transmissions are produced at the Santiago Truck Manufacturing Plant in Mexico, supporting regional supply for medium-duty fleet customers.
