The Yamaha Motor U.S. headquarters relocation marks a major shift in the company’s American operations as the Japanese manufacturer prepares to move its headquarters from California to Kennesaw, Georgia. Announced by Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp on March 10, the transition follows discussions between state leadership and Yamaha executives during the Southeast U.S.–Japan annual gathering in Tokyo in October 2025. The decision reflects Yamaha’s growing operational footprint in Georgia and aligns with the company’s broader strategy to centralize its U.S. activities.
Expansion of Yamaha’s Presence in Georgia
Yamaha already maintains a significant presence in the state, employing more than 2,300 people across multiple operations. A cornerstone of this presence is the 1.3-million-square-foot Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America facility located in Newnan, which began operations in 1986. Over the decades, the company has steadily expanded its activities in Georgia, producing products such as all-terrain vehicles, marine engines, and personal watercraft while strengthening its role in the region’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
Innovation and Operations Consolidation
The state has also become a hub for Yamaha’s innovation and product development activities. The company relocated its marine division to Kennesaw in 1999 and further expanded the location with the opening of a 75,000-square-foot Marine Innovation Center in 2023. In addition, motorsports operations were transferred to Georgia in 2019, signaling a broader consolidation of business functions. The planned headquarters transition from California will begin in 2026 and continue through 2028, reinforcing Yamaha’s long-term commitment to the state.
Globally, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. is recognized as a major producer of motorcycles, marine equipment, power products, and robotics technologies. By relocating its U.S. headquarters to Georgia, the company aims to strengthen operational coordination while building on decades of manufacturing investment and technical development in the region.
