According to draft amendments issued in June 2025, all two-wheelers manufactured on or after January 1, 2026, may require ABS installation under proposed updates to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The company confirmed that production for Bajaj Auto will begin in June 2026, carrying an annual sales potential of 1.2 lakh units. Another programme with similar production volume is scheduled to commence during the second quarter of FY27.

Alongside ABS systems, the company is introducing traction control features for selected premium motorcycle applications within the 160cc to 250cc category. These additions align with evolving OEM requirements as manufacturers increasingly prioritise rider safety and advanced vehicle control technologies.

In-House ECU Production to Increase Localisation

The company is simultaneously expanding localisation efforts within its braking systems business. Endurance has already initiated in-house manufacturing of electronic control units for single-channel ABS systems. Production of dual-channel ABS ECUs is expected to start alongside the upcoming dual-channel braking programme scheduled for June 2026.

According to the company, local ECU manufacturing is expected to improve value addition within the braking systems segment while reducing dependency on imported electronic components. The strategy also strengthens supply chain flexibility and supports faster integration with OEM production requirements.

Endurance added that if the industry transitions towards hydraulic combined braking systems for certain vehicle categories, the company could benefit through increased demand for its hydraulic braking products, including brake discs, master cylinders, and callipers.

Chennai Brake Facility Nearing Operational Readiness

The company’s new brake assembly facility in Chennai is progressing through advanced stages of civil construction. The plant has been strategically established closer to key southern OEM customers to reduce freight costs and improve supply efficiency.

Supplies from the Chennai plant to Royal Enfield are expected to commence in July 2026, while deliveries to additional OEM customers are planned from the third quarter of FY27. The facility forms part of Endurance’s broader braking systems expansion programme across the Indian market.

Once operational, the Chennai plant will support annual production capacity of 30 lakh disc brake assemblies and 40 lakh brake discs. Overall planned capacity across the company will increase to 76 lakh disc brake assemblies and 86 lakh brake discs per annum.

Beyond braking systems, Endurance is preparing to begin EV battery pack supplies from its manufacturing facility near Pune as part of its broader electrification strategy. The programme has now entered its final validation phase after completing regulatory compliance testing at certification agencies.

The company stated that customer review improvement points have already been addressed, and regulatory approvals are nearing completion. Commercial production is expected to begin during the fourth week of the current month.

The first battery pack programme is intended for a two-wheeler electric vehicle application. However, Endurance plans to utilise the manufacturing capability to target future opportunities across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and additional high-growth electric mobility segments.
