The BYD Datang electric SUV was globally unveiled on March 6 as a new D-Class battery electric model designed to combine long driving range, ultra-fast charging, and premium cabin technology. The large SUV measures approximately 5.25 meters in length and introduces a flexible MPV-inspired seating configuration. Powered by the Blade Battery 2.0 and the company’s FLASH charging technology, the vehicle emphasizes fast energy replenishment while supporting extended range performance suitable for long-distance electric mobility.
Battery Technology and Performance Capabilities
The BYD Datang electric SUV integrates Blade Battery 2.0 paired with FLASH charging technology, enabling rapid charging and extended range capability. The vehicle delivers a claimed driving range of up to 950 kilometers. Charging performance allows the battery to increase from 10% to 70% in about five minutes and from 10% to 97% in roughly nine minutes. Even in extreme temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging from 20% to 97% takes around twelve minutes. A four-wheel-drive variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.9 seconds.
Interior Technology and Seating Layout
The large electric SUV adopts a spacious “2+2+3” seating configuration inspired by MPV layouts, providing flexibility for passenger comfort across three rows. Interior technology highlights include a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted display for rear passengers and a premium Devialet 7.1.4-channel audio system featuring 27 speakers. These features position the vehicle as a high-end electric mobility offering that blends performance, charging innovation, and advanced in-vehicle entertainment for long-distance passenger travel.
