The Isuzu Motors India leadership transition will take effect in March 2026 as the company appoints Takeshi Hirano as Deputy Managing Director. He will succeed Toru Kishimoto, who will move to a new assignment at the parent organisation in Japan. The change marks a planned management shift aimed at supporting the company's continued expansion in the Indian automotive market.

Senior Management Change at the Automaker

Isuzu Motors India confirmed that Hirano will assume the Deputy Managing Director role following Kishimoto’s transition to responsibilities within the global organisation. The company stated that the leadership change aligns with its long-term business roadmap for the Indian market.

Hirano joins the Indian subsidiary from Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, where he worked within the Isuzu business division. His professional experience spans more than two decades in global distribution and marketing operations connected to the Isuzu brand.

Experience Across Global Automotive Markets

During his career, Hirano has held multiple roles across international markets while working with both Isuzu Motors and Mitsubishi Corporation. His responsibilities have included overseeing sales strategy, distribution channels, and operational development across several regions.

This experience is expected to support the company’s strategic objectives in India, particularly as the market continues to grow in importance for exports and regional manufacturing activities.

Previous Role in India

Hirano previously worked with Isuzu Motors India as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In that position, he played a key role in building the early commercial framework for the brand in the country and strengthening its dealer network.

His return comes at a time when the company has been expanding its market footprint and reinforcing its export-oriented manufacturing operations.

Manufacturing and Market Presence in India

Headquartered in Chennai, Isuzu Motors India operates a manufacturing facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. The automaker distributes pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles through a nationwide dealership network that now includes roughly 100 outlets.

The company’s current product lineup includes the D-MAX V-Cross pickup, the Hi-Lander lifestyle pickup, and the mu-X SUV, along with commercial versions of the D-MAX platform targeted at utility and fleet applications.

Export Leadership in the Commercial Vehicle Segment

Industry data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers indicates that the manufacturer ranked as India’s leading exporter of commercial vehicles in FY2024–25. The export performance highlights the growing role of India as a production hub supporting international markets.

With the Isuzu Motors India leadership transition now underway, the company is expected to continue strengthening its domestic operations while expanding its position as a key exporter of utility and commercial vehicles from India.
