- Zeekr will launch its new flagship hybrid SUV with a tri-motor system delivering over 1,000 kW of combined power.
- The vehicle introduces a new smart driving platform and offers up to 328 km of pure electric range.
The Zeekr 8X plug-in hybrid SUV is preparing for its official pre-sales debut as the premium electric mobility brand expands its hybrid lineup in the competitive Chinese automotive market. The flagship SUV from Zeekr will be unveiled during a technology launch event in Shanghai scheduled for March 16.
Developed using Geely’s SEA-S hybrid platform, the new vehicle is expected to enter retail channels shortly after the unveiling, with mass deliveries to customers projected to begin in the second quarter of the year.
Large flagship SUV design and dimensions
The upcoming hybrid SUV will be available in both five-seat and six-seat configurations. It measures 5,100 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, supported by a wheelbase of 3,069 mm.
These proportions position the model slightly below the larger Zeekr 9X flagship SUV, which features a longer body and wider stance designed for the upper premium segment.
High-performance tri-motor hybrid powertrain
The vehicle integrates a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of delivering 205 kW of power. This internal combustion unit works alongside a three-motor electric propulsion system that produces a combined output of up to 1,030 kW.
The electrified drivetrain supports a maximum speed of 220 km/h, positioning the SUV among the high-performance hybrid vehicles in its class.
Battery options and electric driving range
Energy storage is provided by ternary lithium battery packs supplied by a joint venture between CATL and Geely Automobile. Buyers will be able to choose between two battery capacities: 55.1 kWh or 70 kWh.
Depending on the configuration selected, the SUV can deliver an all-electric driving range between 256 km and 328 km before the combustion engine assists propulsion.
Advanced driver assistance technology
The model will also introduce the G-ASD smart driving system, jointly developed by Afari Technology and Geely. This advanced driver assistance platform is designed to enhance automated driving capabilities and improve safety functions for premium hybrid vehicles.
Although official pricing has not yet been confirmed, several Chinese automotive media outlets estimate the starting price to be around 400,000 yuan, with the main sales range expected between 450,000 and 500,000 yuan for the new Zeekr 8X plug-in hybrid SUV.
