The Geely Galaxy brand is preparing to introduce the Geely Galaxy M7 plug-in hybrid SUV on March 13 as part of its strategy to strengthen growth amid intense competition in China’s hybrid vehicle market. The unveiling event will take place at the Quzhou facility operated by Energee, Geely’s battery subsidiary.

The upcoming launch follows a key milestone for the brand. Earlier in March, the company confirmed that the first production unit of the new model rolled off the assembly line, marking the achievement of two million vehicles produced by the Galaxy lineup within just 37 months.

Mid-Size Hybrid SUV Positioned for Long Range Efficiency

The M7 becomes the first mid-size sport utility vehicle within the Galaxy M product family. The vehicle integrates a lithium iron phosphate battery pack designed to support strong electric performance while maintaining efficiency and cost competitiveness.

According to specifications disclosed in a regulatory listing from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the SUV can deliver a pure electric driving range of up to 225 kilometers. When the battery and fuel tank are both fully utilized, the total driving range can extend to approximately 1,730 kilometers.

Vehicle Dimensions and Platform Details

The hybrid SUV measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height. Its wheelbase spans 2,785 mm, positioning the vehicle within the competitive mid-size SUV segment and providing a balance between interior space and driving stability.

Competitive Pricing Strategy in China’s Hybrid Market

The model is expected to enter the market during the first half of the year. Pricing is projected to come in below the previously launched Galaxy M9, which currently carries a post-discount price of roughly 173,800 yuan. This positioning highlights the company’s focus on delivering strong value in the hybrid SUV category.

Plug-in hybrid models have recently become a key growth driver for the manufacturer. Sales of vehicles in this segment increased by about 89 percent year-on-year in February, reinforcing the importance of electrified powertrains in the company’s product strategy.

Hybrid Vehicles Driving Sales Momentum

Despite February traditionally being a slower month for automotive sales, the automaker reported overall year-on-year growth of about 1 percent, supported largely by strong overseas exports. Month-on-month sales declined by 23.69 percent compared with January, according to company data released in early March.

By expanding its hybrid portfolio and introducing competitive models such as the Geely Galaxy M7 plug-in hybrid SUV, the brand aims to capture growing consumer demand in China for long-range, high-efficiency electrified vehicles that balance affordability with performance.
