Quick Takeaways
  • Renault demonstrates that long-range, high-speed electric mobility is achievable with exceptional efficiency.
  • The Filante Record 2025 validates advanced aerodynamics and lightweight engineering as critical EV enablers.
On December 23, Renault revealed a major milestone in electric mobility by establishing a Renault EV efficiency record with its Filante Record 2025 concept. The long-distance trial underlined how battery-electric vehicles can sustain motorway speeds while delivering exceptional energy efficiency, reinforcing confidence in next-generation EV technology.
Renault EV Efficiency Record Achieved Over 1,000 km
During a controlled test conducted on December 18, 2025, at UTAC’s Morocco circuit, the Filante Record 2025 covered 1,008 km without any intermediate charging. The run was completed at an average speed of 102 km/h, proving that consistent highway driving and extended range can coexist in a single electric platform.
The concept vehicle weighs 1,000 kg and finished the endurance drive in under 10 hours, powered by an 87 kWh battery pack. Energy consumption was limited to just 7.8 kWh per 100 km, while 11 percent battery capacity remained, equivalent to roughly 120 km of additional highway range.
Aerodynamics and Engineering Behind the Renault EV Efficiency Record
A key contributor to the Renault EV efficiency record was aerodynamic optimization. Engineers reduced the drag coefficient from 0.40 to 0.30 by refining wheel design and reshaping air intakes, significantly lowering energy losses at higher speeds.
The Filante Record 2025 also serves as a technology demonstrator, integrating:
  • Steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire systems
  • A lightweight carbon-fibre body structure
  • Aluminium alloys and 3D-printed Scalmalloy components
  • Low-rolling-resistance Michelin tyres

The powertrain, chassis, and carbon structure were jointly developed with Ligier in France, highlighting collaboration-focused innovation.
By validating real-world, long-distance capability at motorway speeds, Renault signals that efficient electric travel is no longer theoretical but increasingly practical for everyday use.
