- Xpeng introduces extended-range variant of the G6 with up to 1,704 km combined driving range.
- New SUV integrates 800V charging architecture and advanced AI-powered autonomous driving hardware.
The Xpeng G6 extended-range SUV marks the company's latest move to strengthen its presence in China's highly competitive electrified vehicle market. The newly introduced model expands the G6 lineup by combining electric propulsion with a range-extending combustion engine, offering consumers increased driving flexibility and long-distance capability.
Pricing and Market Positioning
The extended-range variant enters the market with a starting price of 186,800 yuan ($27,080). This positions it slightly above the fully electric 2026 G6 version, which launched earlier with a base price of 176,800 yuan. The pricing strategy reflects the additional powertrain technology and extended driving range delivered by the hybrid configuration.
Dual Powertrain and Long-Range Capability
The vehicle integrates a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 55.8-kWh battery pack. This configuration enables a pure electric driving range of 430 kilometers, allowing many daily journeys to be completed without using fuel.
When the battery is fully charged and the fuel tank is filled, the SUV can achieve a maximum combined range of up to 1,704 kilometers. According to the manufacturer, this places the model among the longest-range sport utility vehicles currently available globally.
800V Architecture and Fast Charging Performance
The model is built on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical platform designed to support faster energy replenishment and improved efficiency. The architecture supports 5C ultra-fast charging capability.
Under optimal conditions, the system can add approximately 314 kilometers of driving range in about 12 minutes. This rapid charging capability is designed to reduce waiting times during long-distance travel while addressing common consumer concerns related to charging availability and range limitations.
Advanced Computing and Autonomous Driving Capabilities
The vehicle integrates the second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) large model along with internally developed autonomous driving processors. Together, these technologies deliver computing performance of up to 2,250 TOPS.
Tiered AI Hardware Options
The base Max version includes a single Turing AI chip delivering approximately 750 TOPS of computing capacity. Customers can select additional hardware upgrades depending on their autonomous driving needs.
- An upgrade costing 12,000 yuan adds a second Turing AI chip.
- A 20,000 yuan package integrates three Turing chips to support near Level-4 autonomous driving functionality.
- The system architecture supports future software capability expansion.
Safety Systems and Vehicle Stability Features
The SUV incorporates a range of active safety systems designed to enhance occupant protection and vehicle stability. Automatic emergency braking is designed to operate at speeds of up to 130 km/h, while the vehicle maintains stability even after a tire blowout at speeds reaching 180 km/h.
These safety technologies aim to improve driver confidence while supporting increasingly advanced assisted driving capabilities.
Expansion of Xpeng's Dual-Powertrain Strategy
The launch reflects the automaker's broader strategy to expand its portfolio beyond pure battery-electric vehicles. Earlier in the year, extended-range versions were introduced for the P7+ sedan and the G7 SUV.
By offering both fully electric and extended-range variants across multiple models, the company is building a diversified electrified vehicle lineup tailored to varying consumer preferences and infrastructure conditions.
Launch Incentives and Promotional Offers
To encourage early adoption, the manufacturer announced a limited-time promotion for customers placing orders before the end of March. The incentive package can reach a value of up to 33,200 yuan.
The promotional benefits include vehicle purchase subsidies and optional equipment credits designed to increase early demand for the newly introduced model.
With its combination of long driving range, high-voltage charging architecture, and advanced AI-powered driving systems, the Xpeng G6 extended-range SUV represents a strategic expansion of the brand's electrified vehicle portfolio in China.
