Zeekr has revealed plans to upgrade its flagship luxury people-mover, the Zeekr 009 electric MPV, as the company strengthens its position in China’s rapidly evolving premium electric vehicle market. The refreshed model is scheduled for an official launch in the second quarter of 2026 and will introduce major hardware improvements aimed at enhancing charging performance and intelligent driving capabilities.
Next-Generation Electrical Architecture
The upcoming model will transition to a full-stack 900-volt high-voltage platform, representing a significant step forward from the current 800-volt architecture used in the existing vehicle. Higher-voltage electrical systems allow faster charging speeds, improved energy efficiency, and stronger power delivery. The upgrade is expected to improve overall energy replenishment performance while supporting longer driving ranges and quicker charging cycles.
Advanced Smart Driving Hardware
Another major enhancement comes from the integration of Nvidia’s new Drive Thor-U assisted driving processor. This advanced chip platform is designed to power next-generation intelligent driving functions, enabling improved sensor processing, real-time computing capability, and expanded support for advanced driver assistance systems.
Focus on Premium Technology Positioning
By combining a higher-voltage electrical architecture with next-generation computing hardware, the manufacturer aims to reinforce the vehicle’s positioning within the luxury electric mobility segment.
Strong Market Performance Since Launch
The premium people carrier was originally introduced in 2022, with deliveries starting in 2023. The model is currently offered in three variants in the Chinese market with starting prices of 439,000 yuan, 459,000 yuan, and 469,000 yuan. A special luxury version, the 009 Grand, is also available with prices beginning at 789,000 yuan and 899,000 yuan.
According to the manufacturer, the Zeekr 009 electric MPV has remained the best-selling model in China’s MPV segment priced above 400,000 yuan for two consecutive years. Ahead of the upcoming update, the company is offering promotional financing options for the current model, including ultra-low interest loans over seven years or zero-interest financing for the first five years.
With competition intensifying in China’s high-end electric vehicle market, manufacturers are increasingly relying on advanced hardware upgrades, intelligent driving technologies, and differentiated product offerings to attract premium buyers.
