The Keto Motors Urbanova KE9 electric bus has received CMVR Type Approval certification from the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) on March 5. The certification validates compliance with India’s structural safety, passenger protection, operational range, and performance standards required for commercial electric buses.

Certification Enables Fleet Deployment

With the regulatory approval secured, the vehicle can now enter customer trials and participate in procurement tenders across India. Target deployment segments include state transport undertakings, school transportation fleets, employee shuttle services, and urban mobility operators seeking zero-emission public transport solutions.

Urban Transit Design and Performance

The 9-metre city bus is designed to seat 32 passengers and reach a top speed of approximately 80 km/h. Under fully loaded urban operating conditions, the vehicle delivers a cruise range of around 150 km per charge, positioning it for short-distance and intra-city transit applications.

Production Plans in Telangana

Series manufacturing is scheduled to begin in early FY2026 at Keto Motors’ Jadcherla facility in Telangana. The 20-acre plant is designed to support annual production of roughly 1,000 units, supporting the company’s expansion in India’s growing electric commercial vehicle market.
