The Baidu autonomous driving center initiative advanced after Baidu signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the People’s Government of Hainan Province in Haikou on March 3 to accelerate intelligent mobility innovation.
Strategic cooperation for intelligent mobility
The agreement focuses on promoting orderly cross-border circulation of data generated by intelligent connected vehicles and supporting the development of a competitive innovation ecosystem for next-generation mobility technologies.
Expanding the Apollo Go international footprint
Under the cooperation framework, Baidu will establish an internationalization regional hub for its Apollo Go autonomous mobility platform, supporting commercialization and global deployment of self-driving transport services.
Integrated digital and mobility ecosystem
The initiative will also create a comprehensive operating center combining intelligent connectivity, data innovation, and cultural tourism services within Hainan’s digital economy strategy.
AI infrastructure supporting future mobility
Through intelligent computing infrastructure and large-model AI applications, the Baidu autonomous driving center is expected to strengthen regional data capabilities while accelerating smart mobility development and connected vehicle services.
