BYD has introduced the BYD Datang electric SUV, marking the first D-segment flagship sport utility vehicle within its Dynasty product lineup. The new model is expected to officially launch in the first half of the year and will target the premium new energy vehicle segment.
Although the company did not disclose official pricing, the vehicle is expected to compete in the luxury market above 400,000 yuan. This positioning reflects the automaker’s ongoing push into higher-end electric vehicle segments.
Long-range electric performance and high-voltage architecture
The vehicle integrates the latest second-generation blade battery technology developed by the manufacturer. According to the company, the pure electric variant delivers a driving range of up to 950 kilometers, currently one of the longest ranges available among large electric SUVs globally.
The model also introduces megawatt-level flash-charging capability supported by a 1,000-volt high-voltage platform. This architecture allows the vehicle to charge enough energy for typical daily commuting within just five minutes.
Performance and driving dynamics
The all-wheel-drive version delivers strong acceleration performance, reaching 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The chassis integrates DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension together with rear-wheel steering, enhancing handling stability and ride comfort in different driving conditions.
Large cabin layout and advanced digital cockpit
The SUV measures more than 5.2 meters in length and features a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. Its spacious interior adopts a 2+2+3 seven-seat configuration designed for passenger comfort and flexibility.
The cabin incorporates a 3-nanometer cockpit processor alongside a 27-speaker audio system. The second row includes dual independent zero-gravity seats that emphasize a premium travel experience.
Advanced driver assistance and intelligent systems
The vehicle is equipped with the God’s Eye advanced driver assistance system supported by a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. This configuration enables assisted driving functions on both highways and urban roads.
The Datang joins the existing Tang lineup that includes hybrid and pure electric variants. The series recorded sales of 154,908 units in 2025, remaining largely stable compared with the previous year as the brand strengthens its presence in the global premium EV market.
