The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt has officially opened order books for its base LT variant after production began in December at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas. More than 3,000 vehicles have already reached dealer inventories or are currently in transit. With a starting price of USD 28,995 including the USD 1,395 destination charge, the vehicle now stands as the most affordable electric vehicle available in the United States market.
Base LT Variant Expands Bolt Lineup
Until recently, customers could only purchase the higher-priced RS variant or the LT equipped with the optional Comfort Package. That USD 995 package included powered and heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror. Opening the order book for the entry trim now broadens access to the EV lineup offered by Chevrolet.
Performance and Battery Specifications
The LT trim features 17-inch alloy wheels and is powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 210 horsepower. Energy is supplied by a 65 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack that enables a driving range of up to 262 miles on a full charge.
Production Timeline and Future Plans
General Motors has indicated that production of the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt will continue for roughly 18 months. The Fairfax facility will then transition to manufacturing an internal combustion Chevrolet Equinox and a next-generation Buick compact crossover that may carry the Envision name.
Position in GM’s EV Portfolio
Once the Bolt production cycle concludes, the company’s most affordable electric offering is expected to shift to the Chevrolet Equinox EV, which will take over the entry-level position in the brand’s battery-electric lineup.
