Quick Takeaways
  • Nissan introduces its second-generation e-POWER hybrid system in the Malaysian MPV market.
  • The new Serena features ProPILOT driver assistance and a 1,000 km driving range.

The Nissan Serena e-POWER was officially launched in Malaysia on March 3, 2026, by Nissan distributor Edaran Tan Chong Motor. The sixth-generation mid-sized MPV introduces the brand’s second-generation e-POWER electrified drivetrain and brings ProPILOT advanced driver assistance technology to the Malaysian market. The model is offered in five variants, with prices starting from MYR 154,800 (on-the-road without insurance) in Peninsular Malaysia.

Hybrid electric drive system

The MPV is powered by a fully electric motor producing 163 PS and 315 Nm of torque. Instead of directly driving the wheels, a 1.4-liter petrol engine operates purely as a generator to recharge a 1.77 kWh lithium-ion battery that supplies electricity to the traction motor. This configuration enables electric-like driving characteristics while maintaining the refueling convenience of a combustion engine.

Drive modes and efficiency

Drivers can select between Standard, Sport, and Eco driving modes to tailor vehicle performance and efficiency. An e-Pedal Step function also allows smoother single-pedal driving in certain conditions. Fuel efficiency is rated at 18.5 km/L under the NEDC test cycle, delivering an estimated driving range of up to 1,000 km.

Design and safety features

The latest Serena adopts a redesigned exterior highlighted by a prominent V-Motion grille, triple-projector LED headlamps, and distinctive boomerang-shaped LED taillamps. Inside and across its safety systems, Nissan integrates its Intelligent Mobility technologies.

Advanced driver assistance

Safety equipment includes six airbags, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and ProPILOT assistance combining adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping support. The Nissan Serena e-POWER expands the brand’s electrified MPV portfolio in Southeast Asia while introducing advanced driver assistance and electrified mobility to Malaysian customers.
