Quick Takeaways
  • Quectel showcased advanced vehicle access and radar safety technologies at MWC Barcelona.
  • New digital key solutions integrate BLE, UWB, and NFC technologies for secure vehicle access.

Quectel introduced new connectivity and vehicle access technologies during MWC Barcelona, highlighting Quectel digital key applications alongside several advanced mmWave radar solutions. The demonstrations showcased how wireless technologies are enabling smarter vehicle entry systems and enhanced driver assistance features.

Digital Key Solutions for Modern Vehicle Access

The AP001 smart digital key is delivered as a complete unit designed to support modern vehicle access systems. It integrates both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies to enable precise and secure smartphone-based vehicle entry.

BLE and UWB Positioning Capabilities

The AP001 platform supports the BLE 6.0 protocol and offers dual-mode positioning using Channel Sounding and RSSI techniques. It also supports UWB Channel 5 and Channel 9, using time-of-flight positioning to provide high accuracy for vehicle proximity detection and access authentication. The solution can operate in both single-node and multi-node configurations depending on vehicle architecture requirements.

NFC-Based Vehicle Access Technology

The AP002 smart key solution focuses on NFC card-based access, enabling secure vehicle unlocking and authorization using compatible NFC devices. The design meets automotive environmental, mechanical, electromagnetic compatibility, and protection requirements for in-vehicle systems.

The NFC reader controller complies with CCC Digital Key specifications and aligns with NFC Forum certification standards, ensuring interoperability and global compatibility for digital vehicle key deployments.

Advanced Radar and Telematics Demonstrations

Alongside vehicle access technologies, the company also demonstrated multiple mmWave radar applications aimed at improving vehicle safety and convenience. These include tailgate kick-to-open functionality, forward collision warning systems, and blind spot detection solutions.

The showcase also featured a 5G telematics control unit demonstration built on a Release 16 platform developed by Harman. The solution supports VoLTE, VoNR, CS eCall, and NG-eCall while enabling high-precision positioning through multi-frequency GNSS combined with inertial navigation technology.
