Quick Takeaways
  • Autolane and HEVO integrate wireless EV charging into autonomous vehicle operations.
  • Autonomous vehicles can charge automatically during dwell time without human intervention.

The Autolane wireless charging partnership marks a major step toward fully automated electric mobility operations. Announced on March 3, Autolane, headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and HEVO Inc., a New York-based developer of Rezonant wireless charging technology, revealed a strategic collaboration aimed at integrating wireless EV charging into autonomous vehicle (AV) ecosystems.

The initiative introduces an end-to-end operational framework in which autonomous vehicles can navigate to designated Autolane hubs, complete assigned commercial tasks, and recharge wirelessly during dwell time without requiring manual plug-in assistance.

Wireless Charging Integrated into Autonomous Operations

Autolane develops operational control software that enables autonomous vehicles to coordinate curbside stops, manage order handoffs, and navigate within controlled environments such as private properties, retail complexes, and commercial hubs.

Through integration with HEVO’s Rezonant wireless charging hardware and the Journey software platform, vehicles operating within the Autolane system can automatically align with embedded charging infrastructure and recharge while idle.

Plug-Free Energy Replenishment

The wireless solution eliminates the need for cables or human interaction. Autonomous fleets can maintain operational continuity by charging opportunistically during waiting periods, improving fleet uptime and simplifying energy management for operators.

Commercial Trials and Expansion Plans

Both companies plan to begin joint commercial trials in 2026 using market-available electric vehicle platforms equipped with HEVO’s wireless charging hardware. These trials will evaluate system performance within real-world autonomous logistics and commerce environments.

Following successful deployment, the Autolane wireless charging partnership is expected to expand into additional markets across the United States, supporting the broader adoption of automated electric mobility infrastructure.
