Quick Takeaways
  • Posco Future M will present advanced battery material technologies at InterBattery 2026 in Seoul.
  • The showcase includes ultra-high-nickel cathodes, LFP materials, and developments for solid-state batteries.

Posco Future M next-generation cathode materials will be introduced at InterBattery 2026, scheduled from March 11 to 13 in Seoul Special Metropolitan City. The South Korean battery materials manufacturer plans to showcase multiple innovations aimed at improving energy density, range performance, and next-generation battery architectures for electric vehicles.

Advanced Cathode Technologies for EV Performance

The company will present an ultra-high-nickel cathode chemistry designed for autonomous driving electric vehicles. This advanced material contains more than 95 percent nickel, enabling higher energy density and extended driving range for future mobility platforms.

Alongside this solution, the company will also display lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials. These batteries are optimized for entry-level electric vehicles, offering cost efficiency, safety advantages, and long lifecycle performance.

Development of Solid-State Battery Materials

Research progress on cathode materials and silicon-based anode technologies for all-solid-state batteries will also be highlighted. These materials are considered essential for next-generation battery systems that promise improved safety, faster charging, and significantly higher energy storage capacity.

Collaboration on Next-Generation Battery Systems

The company will provide updates on its joint development activities with Factorial Inc., a United States-based manufacturer specializing in all-solid-state battery technologies. The collaboration focuses on advancing battery materials suitable for future electric vehicle platforms.

Direct Lithium Extraction and Core Battery Materials

The broader Posco Group will also present its Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology. The process aims to improve lithium recovery efficiency from natural resources while supporting sustainable battery supply chains.

In addition, updates will be shared on the development of essential solid-state battery components, including solid electrolytes and lithium metal anodes, further reinforcing Posco Future M next-generation cathode materials as part of the company’s long-term strategy in advanced energy storage technologies.
