Vector Enhances Electric Bus Charging Operations
Vector introduced Vector vCharM electric bus preconditioning through collaboration with Hubject to strengthen fleet charging and energy management. The updated vCharM platform integrates VDV 261-compliant vehicle preparation, allowing electric buses to condition key components before scheduled service begins.
Secure Communication and Network Compatibility
The system introduces automated certificate handling through a public key infrastructure, simplifying authentication across charging infrastructure. Additionally, vCharM.edge hardware integrates an IPv6-to-IPv4 proxy, allowing VDV 261 communication within existing IPv4-based depot network environments.
Operational Benefits for Fleet Operators
Through Vector vCharM electric bus preconditioning, energy from the charging station is used to heat or cool critical vehicle systems before departure. This enables buses to begin routes fully charged with maximum usable battery capacity, improving operational reliability, route planning accuracy, and daily fleet efficiency.
