- VEMO plans major investment to expand EV financing and charging infrastructure in Monterrey.
- New charging hubs, EV fleet deployment and service facilities will strengthen the regional electromobility ecosystem.
The VEMO electric mobility investment announced on March 3 will channel MXN 825 million (approximately USD 47 million) into Monterrey in 2026 to accelerate electric vehicle adoption. The funding will support vehicle financing programs, charging infrastructure expansion and local servicing capabilities aimed at strengthening the regional electromobility ecosystem.
EV Financing Expansion Through VEMO Impulso
The cleantech company plans to leverage its fintech platform, VEMO Impulso, to improve access to electric vehicles through leasing models that include purchase options. The initiative specifically targets drivers working with mobility platforms, a segment seen as key to scaling electric fleet adoption.
As part of the deployment strategy, the company intends to introduce at least 1,000 electric vehicles in light and premium segments across Monterrey during 2026.
Fast-Charging Network Development in Nuevo León
In parallel with vehicle financing initiatives, the company is accelerating the rollout of public fast-charging infrastructure across Nuevo León. Four dedicated charging hubs are currently under development and will collectively install 60 fast chargers with a combined capacity of 7.2 MW.
Large-Scale Charging Capacity Expansion
These charging hubs are designed to support up to 120 simultaneous charging sessions and are scheduled to begin operations in 2026. Beyond these hubs, the company plans to deploy an additional 270 charging points across the region between 2026 and early 2027.
EV Service Infrastructure and Energy Storage Integration
The investment package also includes the construction of an EV-certified service workshop spanning 1,800 square meters. The facility is designed to handle maintenance for up to 1,500 vehicles per month, ensuring operational support for the expanding electric fleet.
Battery energy storage systems will also be integrated into charging locations, helping stabilize power supply and improve charging efficiency as EV adoption continues to grow across the Monterrey metropolitan area.
