  • The sedan is built on Advanced Modular Architecture and supports Proton’s long-term export expansion strategy.

The Proton Saga Brunei launch was officially announced on March 2, 2026, as Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd. introduced the latest generation sedan to the Bruneian market. The rollout marks the model’s first export introduction following its earlier debut in Malaysia and represents the brand’s second vehicle launch in Brunei in 2026 after the X50.

Built on Advanced Modular Architecture

The new Saga is developed using PROTON’s Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA), a platform designed to improve structural strength, vehicle safety, and onboard connectivity features. The updated architecture also supports enhanced driving stability and overall refinement for the compact sedan segment.

Strong Domestic Demand

In Malaysia, the model has already demonstrated strong market acceptance, recording more than 20,000 registrations since its introduction.

Supporting Export Expansion Strategy

The international rollout aligns with the export ambitions of Proton, which shipped around 6,000 vehicles to overseas markets in 2025. The company aims to significantly expand its global footprint, targeting exports to account for approximately 30 percent of total vehicle sales by 2030.

Pricing and Market Positioning

In Brunei, the new Saga is offered in two variants. The Executive version is priced at BND16,800, while the Premium variant carries a price tag of BND18,800. Early buyers are also offered a promotional discount of BND500 for the first 100 customers, reinforcing the brand’s push to strengthen its presence in the Bruneian passenger car market.
