- Toyoda Gosei fully acquires Ashimori Industry to integrate airbag and seat belt development.
- The deal also expands infrastructure solutions using Ashimori’s pipeline rehabilitation technology.
The Toyoda Gosei Ashimori Industry acquisition marks a strategic move to strengthen automotive safety technology and expand infrastructure solutions. Toyoda Gosei announced that it acquired all issued shares of Ashimori Industry on March 1, making the company a wholly owned subsidiary.
Expansion of Safety System Collaboration
The two companies have been strengthening cooperation in the safety systems business since signing a capital and business alliance agreement in May 2021. Their collaboration has focused primarily on critical vehicle safety components such as airbags.
In November 2023, Ashimori Industry became an equity-method affiliate of Toyoda Gosei. The latest acquisition builds on this partnership by allowing deeper operational integration and coordinated product development.
Integration of Airbag and Seat Belt Development
With full ownership, Toyoda Gosei plans to integrate the development of airbags and seat belts across both organizations. This unified approach is expected to accelerate innovation in occupant protection systems while improving engineering efficiency.
Broader Applications Beyond Automotive
In addition to vehicle safety technologies, Ashimori Industry contributes expertise in infrastructure solutions. Its PALTEM pipeline rehabilitation method is designed to address aging pipeline networks and improve long-term infrastructure resilience.
By combining safety system engineering with infrastructure technology, the Toyoda Gosei Ashimori Industry acquisition positions the group to expand into new areas that support both automotive safety and broader societal needs.
