The Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV has officially launched in Japan as an expanded and more versatile version of the standard bZ4X. Designed as a wagon-like midsize electric SUV, the Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV blends strong acceleration, extended driving range, and enhanced practicality. Positioned for both urban commuting and outdoor activities, it offers increased luggage space, improved efficiency, and advanced driver assistance technologies. The model reflects Toyota’s continued push into electrification while strengthening its electric SUV portfolio in Japan.

Design and Dimensions of Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV

The Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV features a larger body profile compared with the standard model, delivering greater interior and cargo capacity. It measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The vehicle is 140 mm longer and 25 mm taller than the regular version, improving cabin spaciousness and utility.

Exterior Styling and Utility Enhancements

The exterior design emphasizes a rugged character suited for active lifestyles. A black LED rear combination lamp extends horizontally across the rear hatch, reinforcing visual width. Black 20-inch aluminum wheels, large bridge-type roof rails, and front and rear skid plates highlight its SUV identity. The luggage compartment offers 619 liters of capacity, approximately 1.4 times larger than the standard model, supporting recreational and family usage.

Powertrain, Battery, and Driving Range

The Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a total capacity of 74.69 kWh. It is offered in both front-wheel drive and 4WD system configurations under a single Z grade. The FWD variant features a front-mounted motor delivering 167 kW and 268 Nm of torque, while the 4WD version includes dual motors on the front and rear axles with a maximum system output of 280 kW.

Efficiency Improvements and eAxle Technology

Efficiency enhancements in the eAxle technology, including the adoption of SiC power semiconductors and aerodynamic optimization, significantly improve range performance. The Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV achieves a driving range of up to 734 km in the FWD version and 690 km in the 4WD variant, making it suitable for long-distance travel and daily usability.

Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance Systems

The Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense as standard, offering a comprehensive advanced active safety package. It also includes Advanced Drive support during traffic congestion and Advanced Park with remote functionality, part of Toyota Teammate’s driving assistance technologies. Production, Platform, and Market Positioning

The Toyota bZ4X Touring BEV is produced at Subaru’s Yajima plant in Japan and shares its platform with the Subaru Trailseeker. The planned base sales volume is set at 920 units per month, and pricing starts from JPY 5,750,000. In the United States, the model will be introduced under the name Toyota bZ Woodland, expanding its presence in global electric SUV markets.
