With India already positioned as its second-largest export base globally, the company is strengthening its presence by expanding its product lineup and widening its international reach. Exports continue to anchor operational scale in India, especially as domestic sales remain comparatively modest.

Nissan India Vehicle Exports to Cross 100,000 Units

The company has reaffirmed that Nissan India vehicle exports will exceed 100,000 units in FY26-27. Exports account for nearly three-fourths of total production in India, underlining their strategic importance. The automaker ships vehicles to more than 65 countries, covering Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Oceania.

India serves as a critical global export hub, supporting volume stability and operational efficiency. The export-driven approach has enabled the company to maintain its position among the top passenger vehicle exporters from the country.

Export Portfolio: Magnite and Sunny Continue to Lead

Currently, two primary models contribute to Nissan India vehicle exports: the Magnite compact SUV and the Sunny sedan. Although the Sunny was discontinued in the domestic market in 2020, it continues to be produced in India exclusively for overseas markets.

Export Performance Trends

In FY2025, total production reached 99,332 units, of which 71,334 units were exported. Domestic sales during the same period stood at 27,881 units. Export volumes included 42,179 units of the Sunny and 29,155 units of the Magnite.

Between April and January of FY2026, production totaled 89,987 units, while exports reached 68,091 units. During this period, Sunny exports declined to 23,473 units, whereas Magnite exports rose significantly to 44,618 units. Domestic sales were recorded at 17,662 units.

Product Expansion to Strengthen Export Momentum

The company plans to expand its portfolio from one product to four within 12 months, covering price segments from Rs 6 lakh to nearly Rs 20 lakh. This expansion is expected to support both domestic growth and Nissan India vehicle exports.

Following the launch of the Gravite compact MPV, the automaker will introduce the mid-size SUV Tekton, which is based on the Renault Duster platform. A larger seven-seater C-segment SUV is also planned. The Tekton is anticipated to deliver strong export potential, further supporting international volumes.

Chennai Manufacturing and Asset-Light Strategy

Vehicles are manufactured at the Chennai plant under a contract manufacturing arrangement with Renault. Recently, the company restructured its operations by divesting its stake in the joint venture plant to become more asset-light and agile. Despite the ownership change, Chennai plant production continues to support both domestic and export demand.

With portfolio expansion, sustained manufacturing capacity, and growing global demand, Nissan India vehicle exports are positioned to remain the central pillar of the company?s strategy in the coming financial years.
