Matthias Zink of Schaeffler AG and CLEPA underlined the European supply sector?s economic importance, noting that suppliers account for up to 75 percent of vehicle component value and support roughly 1.7 million jobs. Annual investments of approximately ?45 billion reflect the sector?s commitment to innovation, yet global competition and shifting production volumes continue to pressure operations.

Zink welcomed the European Commission?s Automotive Package as a constructive attempt to align climate objectives with economic sustainability. However, he urged manufacturers and suppliers to reinforce entrepreneurship, innovation, and customer orientation to remain globally competitive.
