Quick Takeaways
  • Mercedes-Maybach will enter Argentina in 2026 as a made-to-order ultra-luxury brand targeting high-net-worth customers.
  • The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 will spearhead the launch, alongside broader Mercedes-Benz and Smart brand expansion plans.
On December 17, Prestige Auto confirmed plans to bring the Mercedes-Maybach brand to Argentina in 2026, marking a significant expansion of ultra-luxury offerings in the country. The move positions Mercedes-Maybach Argentina as a made-to-order luxury proposition tailored for high-net-worth customers seeking exclusivity, craftsmanship, and premium comfort.
The announcement was shared by Daniel Herrero, president of Prestige Auto, during a press briefing held at the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter production facility in La Matanza. As the most exclusive division of Mercedes-Benz, Maybach will enter the Argentine market through customized order-based sales rather than mass retail distribution, ensuring controlled volumes and a premium ownership experience.
Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 to Lead the Brand’s Market Entry
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 will be the first model introduced under the Mercedes-Maybach Argentina strategy. This full-size luxury SUV is powered by a 557 hp V8 engine and is positioned at the top end of the premium SUV segment. Based on the Mercedes-Benz GLS platform, the Maybach variant focuses heavily on rear-seat comfort and personalization.
  • Unlike standard GLS models, the Maybach version offers only two seating rows.
The rear cabin can be configured for either two or three occupants, emphasizing spaciousness, premium materials, and advanced comfort features. This configuration aligns with Maybach’s global focus on chauffeur-driven luxury and bespoke interiors.
Gradual Expansion of the Mercedes-Maybach Lineup
Prestige Auto highlighted that the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 represents only the beginning of a broader long-term strategy. The company aims to progressively expand the Mercedes-Maybach Argentina portfolio by introducing additional models from the global lineup, depending on market response and demand for ultra-luxury vehicles.
  • Beyond Maybach, Prestige Auto is also evaluating the introduction of the SMART brand in Argentina.
Currently produced exclusively in China, SMART has shifted its focus toward electric vehicles, reflecting the growing interest in premium urban EV mobility across global markets.
Additional Mercedes-Benz Launches Planned for 2026
Further strengthening its product roadmap, Prestige Auto confirmed additional launches scheduled for 2026, including the new-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA. The company also plans to introduce a locally manufactured Mercedes-Benz Sprinter equipped with an automatic transmission, expanding options in the commercial vehicle segment.
Together, these initiatives underline Prestige Auto’s broader strategy to diversify Mercedes-Benz offerings in Argentina, spanning ultra-luxury vehicles, electric mobility, passenger cars, and commercial vans, while reinforcing the brand’s long-term presence in the market.
